Fall 2018 is all about texture.

Power suits are back in the women’s wardrobe, like if they were borrowed from the mens. Often made in menswear fabrics like thick plaids or corduroy, you will definitely want to wear suits again. Oversized jackets are still cool but you can belt up that jacket to show your waist. Fitted jackets have been seen more  and more this season. Suit pants are high waisted and boot cut for a 70s vibes.

We’ve seen lots of check patterns for Fall 2018 and we’re even mixing them with others patterns or wear them “total-look” as a suit for example. Tartan, Glen plaids or houndstooth are few of the classic patterns you will want to wear for fall. Sports check jackets are worn with plain suit trousers, pencil skirts or even over silk dresses and gowns.

Cowboy boots revisited

Last season Calvin Klein made new cowboy boots and trend setters wore them without hesitation. This season, many other designers decided to follow on that trend with a more subtle twist and slightly more feminine, adding height to the heel or feminine details like pearls or embroideries. I am definitely digging this trend right now and I’ll make sure that my edgier clients have those in their feet for fall 2018.

Brown is the new black

Many hues of brown are shown on the runway this season. Milk chocolate brown, cocoa brown, beaver brown, chestnut brown and dozens of other browns. Mixed with ivory, navy, green or other deep jewel tones, brown is definitely the new black, for fall 2018 in both the mens and women’s wardrobe.

Corduroy is everywhere this season. Designers are doing corduroy suiting, corduroy pants/jeans, corduroy blazers, bags and shoes. I love corduroy and if you are on the slim side, I would go with a wide wale (thick corduroy) and total-look, like as a suit or something.
