Last weekend's snowstorm left some of us unhappy, while others who love winter sports were ecstatic. But one thing is certain: spring is coming soon, and I can't wait! As you know, each season I watch a variety of fashion shows and look out for all the major trends in the fashion industry, especially the ones I’m excited to share with you, my clients. Of course, there are dozens of fashion trends, but not all apply to my type of clientele. Here are my top 7 trends for Spring 2025. Are you ready?
1- Dusty Pink
Dusty pink is emerging as a prominent trend for spring 2025, offering a sophisticated and versatile touch. This muted, cool-toned pink is being embraced across various fashion collections, reflecting a shift towards more understated elegance. Some of my favorite designers, such as Zimmermann, Erdem, Prada, and Akris, have incorporated dusty pink into their spring lines, highlighting its adaptability and appeal. I also love this shade for its ability to complement a wide range of skin tones and clothing colors and types. For instance, dusty pink can be mixed with beige, denim blue, winter white, burgundy, red, navy, or even camel and brown. It really demonstrates the color's versatility.
2- Sheer Transparency
Transparency is a defining trend for Spring 2025, with designers incorporating sheer fabrics and translucent layers into their collections. This approach adds a touch of allure and sophistication, allowing for creative layering and texture mixing. Notably, the Khaite Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection featured dresses, tops, and skirts in organza, while Chanel showed silk ruffle dresses with panels and cutouts, exemplifying this trend. Dolce & Gabbana showcased gauzy lingerie-inspired dresses, see-through skirts, and transparent tailoring, signaling a move towards more daring styles.
3- Tomato Red
Tomato red is set to be a standout color trend for Spring 2025, bringing a vibrant and energetic hue to fashion and design. This bold shade is anticipated to dominate the visual landscape, appearing in various forms from sun-drenched crimson to deep, rich scarlet. Designers are embracing tomato red across multiple collections. For instance, Max Mara has introduced a full capsule in red, ivory, and navy stripes and solids, highlighting the nautical trend's accessibility and appeal. Loro Piana showcased tailoring, knits, and accessories in red tones for the upcoming spring and summer season. Giambattista Valli, Khaite, Valentino, and others also showed lots of red in their collections as well.
4- Summer tweed
Summer tweed is emerging as a significant trend for Spring 2025, offering a lighter, more breathable take on the classic heavier fabric traditionally associated with cooler months. Designers are adapting tweed to suit warmer weather by incorporating it into garments like lightweight jackets, skirts, and dresses, making it suitable for spring and summer wardrobes. For instance, Valentino's Spring/Summer 2025 collection showcased tweed brown pieces that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs, highlighting the fabric's versatility and enduring appeal. Other, more accessible brands like Theory, Eleventy, and Veronica Beard showed ivory tweed suiting, beige tweed blazers, tweed sequin dresses, and navy tweed striped blazers. This trend reflects a broader movement towards reimagining classic materials for modern, seasonal wear, allowing fashion enthusiasts to enjoy the timeless elegance of tweed throughout the year. I absolutely love tweed, so get ready!
5- Blue Sky is the Limit
Powder blue is set to be a prominent color trend for Spring 2025, offering a serene and sophisticated alternative to traditional pastels. Designers are incorporating this hue into various collections, reflecting its versatility and appeal. For instance, Chloé showed accessories, sneakers, dresses, and tops in powder blue, exemplifying the trend and combining comfort and style with a romantic touch. Valentino created amazing cashmere sweaters in powder blue, while UK designer Emilia Wickstead created beautiful cocktail and evening dresses in that hue. Bottega Veneta and Alaïa also incorporated powder blue into their bag collections.
6- Mocha Mousse, the New Brown
Mocha Mousse, Pantone's Color of the Year for 2025, will be a major trend this spring. This warm, sophisticated brown hue evokes the richness of chocolate and coffee, offering a versatile and elegant alternative to traditional neutrals. Designers have embraced Mocha Mousse across various collections, featuring garments such as oversized sweaters, structured handbags, and flowing dresses in this shade. For example, at Max Mara, I've seen suiting, sweaters, and bags in that color, and most menswear collections showcased that brown hue, like The Row, and Brunello Cucinelli, to name a few. I love brown, so this will certainly be one of my favorite trend this spring!
7- Ruffles
Ruffles will be everywhere for Spring 2025, adding a touch of femininity and playfulness to various fashion pieces. Designers are incorporating ruffles into dresses, blouses, and skirts, creating dynamic silhouettes that capture attention. For instance, Zimmermann's Spring 2025 collection featured bohemian-inspired ruffled designs, exemplifying the trend's versatility and appeal. Chloé's runway is also filled with ruffles, as this is a signature element of the maison's identity. This trend aligns with a broader movement towards romantic and whimsical elements in fashion, offering a refreshing contrast to minimalist styles. Ruffles can be styled in various ways, from subtle accents to bold, statement-making features. As you probably already know, I love ruffles, so I’m excited to style you all with ruffles elements this season!
